project type Residential Extension
timescale 26 Weeks
budget £225,000
key features Structural Glass Roof and Bridge

Kings Walk, West Kirby

Originally two separate houses, our client decided to join these two properties to create a single unified, contemporary structure.  They wanted a joint, family living space that could be used by their extended family that would also connect internal spaces with the garden more successfully.

This project provided additional internal space with high levels of natural light through the extensive use of structural glazing in the building envelope.  The vibrant interior of the extension was enhanced by plastered walls and ceilings complemented by white external silicone render and cedar soffit cladding.

The first floor master bedroom is now connected to a dressing room via a structural glazed bridge link with intelligent glass technology that instantaneously can be altered to either opaque or transparent at the flick of a switch.
